Jim & Trisch Beilke Exhibition
April 2021 | The Cultural Centre | Basketry and Handcrafted Boats
Trisch Beilke, an artist of many mediums, inspired by nature discovered her true passion, the art of basketry. She incorporates found objects such as feathers, antlers, seagrass, and jute to create both traditional and sculptural weaving. Trisch, an experienced gallery exhibitor and award-winning artist is a graduate of St. Scholastica and St. Benedict Universities.
Jim Beilke has been a lifelong lover of nature and outdoor activities. At the University of Minnesota-Mankato he studied urban planning and development, then realized he needed to work outside and for himself, which led him back to the family farm. That love of nature and a fascination with small wooden boats prompted him to building historic wooden rowing boats and canoes. He has acquired extensive knowledge of these boats and building techniques. His boats have often been referred to as “furniture” because of their beautiful style. You can learn more about Jim’s handcrafted boats, here.
